Dental braces are a type of orthodontic treatment used to correct teeth that are crowded, crooked, protruding, out of alignment or have irregular spacing. By moving the teeth into the ideal position, dental braces help to create a more attractive and healthier smile for both children and adults.
Dental bridges are an excellent solution for patients with missing teeth. A dental bridge is a false tooth which is fused between two porcelain crowns in order to replace a missing tooth. Each bridge is custom made to fill in the space. If spaces are left unfilled the surrounding teeth are liable to drift out of position.
Dental crowns, also known as “caps”, preserve the functionality of damaged or heavily restored teeth. The dental crown is custom made and encases the tooth in porcelain, ceramic, gold, metal alloy or a combination of these materials.
Our state-of-the-art dental imaging software, allows our team to take an instantaneous x-ray with a much lower dose of radiation than conventional film.
Pain Management Options: Sedation
At Lake Street Dental, we offer nitrous oxide sedation, commonly referred to as “laughing gas”, to help anxious patients relax and feel comfortable while dental work is being performed. If dental anxiety has caused you to worry about or postpone treatment in the past, we can help ensure that your next dental visit will be as pleasant as possible.
Dental cleanings are a vital part of your oral and overall health. Preventing dental disease starts at home with good oral hygiene. It is continued at the dental office with regular dental exams, cleanings and x-rays. Sealants and fluoride are also preventative treatments that help protect the teeth. An oral cancer screening is also conducted at every hygiene appointment to check for signs of abnormal tissues.
Root Canal Therapy
When a cavity is undetected, or left untreated, the bacteria causing the decay can advance deeper into the tooth and into the nerve space. This results in an infection that is quite painful and can also lead to an abscess if not addressed. In many cases, a root canal can remove the infected nerve tissue and preserve the tooth. A root canal involves removing the infected or dead nerve tissue, disinfecting the nerve space and filling the root space.
Whether you are an athlete or casual sports participant, you should wear a mouth guard to protect your teeth. The purpose of the mouth guard is to act as a shock-absorber to prevent concussions as well as protect your teeth from excessive, damaging forces.
Our teeth can become discoloured or darkened over time. The main reasons for discolouration are staining agents such as coffee, tea, red wine, smoking, etc, that adhere to the surface of our teeth. Whitening or bleaching can be done to remove this surface stain, brightening or restoring our natural whiteness. The process is quite simple and involves taking molds or impressions of your teeth, from which custom bleaching trays are made. The bleaching agent is administered into the trays and the whitening trays are worn at your convenience.
Veneers, Inlays and Onlays
Inlays, onlays and veneers are dental restorations that are fabricated and custom made from porcelain, ceramic, gold, metal alloy or a combination of these materials. Similar to dental crowns, inlays, onlays and veneers are often used in place of traditional fillings to treat tooth decay or enamel defects.
