Gentle Tooth Extractions: Prioritizing Your Comfort and Health

While our primary goal is always to save your natural teeth, there are times when an extraction is the best option for your overall health—such as in cases of severe decay, overcrowding, or problematic wisdom teeth. We understand that the thought of an extraction can be stressful. Our team focuses on compassionate care, using effective local anesthesia to ensure a smooth and comfortable experience.

When is an Extraction Necessary?

01. Severe Decay/Infection

When a tooth is too damaged to be repaired with a root canal or crown.

02. Wisdom Teeth

Impacted or crowded third molars that threaten the alignment of other teeth.

03. Orthodontic Preparation

Creating space in the jaw to allow braces to align teeth properly.

What to Expect: The Procedure

  • Consultation: We review X-rays to determine the curvature of the roots and plan the safest removal.

  • Local Anesthesia: We administer a local anesthetic to thoroughly numb the area. You will remain fully awake, but the tooth and surrounding gum will be completely without sensation.

  • Removal: Once you are numb, the tooth is gently loosened and removed. You may feel some pressure, but you should not feel pain.

  • Recovery: We provide detailed post-op instructions to ensure quick healing. Because we use local anesthesia, you will not feel groggy and can drive yourself home.

Frequently asked questions

Will the extraction hurt?

Your comfort is our top priority. We use powerful local anesthesia to thoroughly numb the area before we begin. You will feel pressure and movement during the removal, but you should not feel pain. If you feel any discomfort at any point, simply raise your hand, and we will pause to ensure you are fully numb.

Can I drive myself home afterwards?

Yes. Since we use local anesthesia rather than general sedation, you will be alert and able to drive yourself home immediately following the appointment.

How long is the recovery time?

Most soft tissue heals in a couple of weeks, but you should be able to return to normal routine activities within 1–2 days. We will give you a care kit to help the socket heal properly.
